Showing Up: Helping Your Pre-Teen or Teen Through Trauma and Grief
The Resiliency Division is partnering with ML Counseling to present a workshop for parents of children ages 10–17. Parenting through difficult times can feel overwhelming, especially when your child seems to be pulling away just when you want to help the most. This workshop will provide practical tools to help you better understand and support your pre-teen or teen through trauma, grief, major life changes, and stressful current events.

Haciéndose presente: Cómo ayudar a su preadolescente o adolescente a través del trauma y el duelo
La División de Resiliencia está colaborando con ML Counseling para ofrecer un taller para padres de adolescentes de 10 a 17 años. Criar a los hijos durante momentos difíciles puede resultar abrumador, especialmente cuando parece que se distancian justo cuando más quieres ayudarles. Este taller ofrecerá herramientas prácticas para ayudarlos a comprender y apoyar mejor a sus hijos preadolescentes o adolescentes al afrontar traumas, duelos, cambios importantes en la vida y situaciones estresantes de actualidad.

National Night Out
The City of Highland Park Police Department will host the annual National Night Out.
Meet the men & women of the Highland Park Police Department and take part in the fun. The fun includes free swimming, a bounce house, a live DJ, snacks, a petting zoo, a touch-a-truck exhibit, community partner booths, and more!
*The 4th of July fireworks display was rescheduled to this day beginning at 9:15 PM. Additional Fireworks Viewing will be at Sunset Valley Golf Club - 1390 Sunset Rd.

Community Mosaic “Tree of Life” Presentation
On July 4, 2025, our community came together to create a mosaic in remembrance of the victims of the Highland Park shooting and in honor of our community’s resilience, especially those who were injured. Through the enduring symbol of the tree of life, we honor all the ways we are growing forward together, rooted in our support for each other. City Council will unveil the mosaic during the Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday, June 29 at approximately 5:00 PM.
The mosaic was completed by Etty Hasak and team from The Chicago Mosaic School. It will be hung on the second floor of City Hall at the top of the stairs and can be visited during City Hall walk-in hours.
El 4 de julio de 2025, nuestra comunidad se unió para crear un mosaico en memoria de las víctimas del tiroteo de Highland Park y en honor a la resiliencia de nuestra comunidad, especialmente de aquellos que resultaron heridos. A través del perdurable símbolo del árbol de la vida, honramos todas las formas en que seguimos avanzando juntos, arraigados en nuestro apoyo mutuo. El Concejo Municipal presentar el mosaico durante la reunión del Comité Plenario el lunes 29 de junio, aproximadamente a las 5:00 p. m.
El mosaico fue realizado por Etty Hasak y su equipo de The Chicago Mosaic School. Se exhibirá en el segundo piso del Ayuntamiento, en la parte superior de la escalera, y podrá visitarse durante el horario de visitas sin cita.
Lake County State's Attorney's Office Summer Day of Service
Join Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Gun Violence Prevention Initiative office at the first Summer Day of Service.
Each person interested in participating should register here to confirm their shirt size and which volunteer activities they are interested in. There will be service activities for all ages and a resource fair. Free food, music, and games will be available.
The Resiliency Division will be tabling and participating at this event. We hope to see you there!
